Shan-Tai prayer month, day 8
The Shan people have a high level of illiteracy, their culture relies heavily on oral tradition. However, discipleship and evangelism often uses written language, which poses an obstacle for many Shan people. By both offering oral gospel resources in the Shan language and also improving literacy, the gospel will be better able to penetrate Shan culture and bring life to the local churches.
- Opportunities for Shan to learn and preserve their language, and for God to use this to advance His kingdom (Colossians 3:23).
- Those ministering amoung the Shan to make necessary adjustments in communicating the Gospel and in discipleship methods to match the needs of Shan cultural heritage
(Deuteronomy 6:6–9, Deuteronomy 31:19).
